Other than Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B clothing line, I do not care for celebrity fashion/ fragrance/ make-up/ vitamin water/ whatever product the PR team comes up with to put a celebrity’s perfectly airbrushed face on. It’s a part of a big branding curriculum for a celebrity that involves only a tiny portion of his/her time, but the money keeps on coming. Personally, if you don’t put time and effort into a new venture, it does not deserve my time.
That said, one of my favourite singers, V V Brown – a British pop star that compares more to Janelle Monae and Santigold than Britney or Christina, has an online vintage boutique that features some of her favourite pieces. She has been a fan of vintage clothing – which is much classier, funkier, and lively in the U.K. than here – before her music career took off. Although, the blog on the web-site hasn’t been updated since 2009, I am fairly certain, the actual boutique choices are updated fairly regularly (nonetheless, there aren’t too many of them).
I think that this is a great example of a celebrity’s personal venture that actually matters to her. Check VVVintage.com and see for yourself. If you’ve never heard VV Brown’s music, I’d suggest you check it out.
